The Teenagers Brain

An extremely important part of the brain is the grey matter, gray matter contains neurons which help your mind communicate with your body to perform a physical action. As you grow older the volume of grey matter increases then declines.

The volume of grey matter is at its highest when your a child then slowly declines over the time the child grows. In the early ages when the teenager is growing up start to gain synapse helping information pass between different nerve cell, a synapse acts as a junction between two nerve cells.

When you turn into an adult you start a process called pruning, pruning is a process where you start to lose synapses, it's important to exercise your mind so you prune less. As you mature your connections to different parts of the brain will increase, increasing the speed in which your body can transmit pulses.

It's also important that you get plenty of sleep, adolescence brings with it a change of sleep regulation, inadequate sleep is a major contributor to depression and have a major affect on the maturing child's attitude. Since I am still maturing myself these are just the things that I did the research on, the rest is left for me to learn while I grow up.

Hurricane Katrina

Hurricane Katrina struck the United State's Gulf Coast in he morning of August 29, 2005. The total death toll that Katrina caused is unknown, the estimated amount ranges from 1,200 to 1,800+, Katrina hit several states some of these are: Florida, the Gulf of Mexico, and New Orleans. New Orleans was hit the hardest and the amount of damage it caused was catastrophic. The aftermath it brought caused over $100 billion dollars in damage. Many residents of Mississippi, Lousiana, and Alabama   had their homes destroyed by the storm. Hurricane Katrina was about 400 miles long reaching winds of more than 100 miles per hour. The storm caused so much flooding that nearly 80 percent of the city was covered with water, people had to break through their attic and climb to the roof for safety.

The Cell

All living organisms can be classified into two cell groups Prokaryotic and Eukaryotic. Prokaryotic cells are smaller, independent from the other cells and less complex than Eukaryotic, Prokaryotic cells take form of bacteria and blue-green algae, and Archaea. Eukaryotic cells unlike Prokaryotic contain a nucleus. Eukaryotic cells are bigger more complex and are seen in animal, plants, protists, and fungai. The Eukaryotic cell contains many organelles I will explain some of them and their jobs in the cell. The nucleus contains the DNA the nucleus is the one controlling the cell and what cell it become. Nucleolus is contained in the Nucleus. The nucleolus' job is to assemble the ribosomes. The ribosomes job is to help build protein, the ribosome is a large subunit over a smaller subunit while messenger rna goes through building the protein. The Cytoplasm made up of Cytosols. Cytoplasm acts as the internal-substructure for the cell. All the contents of the Prokaryotic are stored within the Cytoplasm. The lysome or the suicide sac has the ability to break down all sorts of biomolecules. The lysome said job is to  digest the unwanted materials from the Cytoplasm. The reason this organelle has a nickname of the suicide sac is because when this organelle pops the digestive juice spreads to the whole cell eating itself. These are just some of the many organelles inside a Eukaryotic cell.

DNA

This is my report on what makes DNA. To know what makes DNA all you really need to know is what is a Nucleotide and the three parts of a Nucleotide. The first part is the Nitrogenous Base it's basically a nitrogen which has a molecule that has the properties of a base. The second part of a Nucleotide is a Deoxyribose sugar the reason they call it that is because in the rna its group is called ribose sugar Anderson hydroxyl group contains oxygen while deoxyribose sugar doesn't contain oxygen. The last part is a Phosphate which is familiar with ATP, ATP contains three Phosphate groups. The backbone of DNA contains numbered prime carbons which travels from 3' to 5' DNA is also known to be anti-parallel meaning it goes from 3' to 5' on one side and goes in the opposite direction in the other side.

Ghost Town Visit, Calico California September 2014

Calico Town is ghost town that was founded in 1881, Calico was also considered a silver mining town. We took a small train ride tour around the area we saw some of the old silver mines and learned a little bit more about its history.
On the train we saw some of the things you could do there you could try gold panning, eat and drink, and visit the museums. It was a good experience for me to visit another ghost town and I really enjoyed it.
Calico Ghost Town has a lot of activities to try and I recommend trying them all, I didn't go to all the activities but I still had a good time.

Randsburg, California Visit August 2014

On our way to Death Valley we decided to stop by Randsburg Ghost Town. We took some pictures, visit the musuem, and to eat lunch. We found a parking space among some other tourists cars.
First, we decided to visit the museum and to learn more about the ghost town. In the museum they had many of the minerals they would find in the mines.
Randsburg was discovered in 1895, its founders were John Shingleton, Charlie Burcham, and F.M Mooers. They originally called it The Rand after the South African mining district, then it became Rand Camp, then Randsburg.
We ate lunch there and got some drinks to take with us on the car trip. This is the first ghost town I've been to and I really enjoy this trip. I really hope people touring should visit this place. I also recommend you eat there I really recommend their food.

Banaue Rice Terraces , Philippines November 2014

When we came to see the Banaue Rice Terraces we went to view point to take pictures and we went just in time cause when we were done at view point it started raining.
I learned about the 2,000 year old rice terrace how they created it. It is said that the terraces were built with few equipment and greatly by hand by the indeginouse people.
It is also 5,000ft above sea level. The Terraces are fed by the irrigation system from the rainforests.
The view at view point was amazing you could see all the rice terraces there. It rained a lot after we came back from view point. We took lots of pictures and there was also a tribal man we took pictures with. We ate dinner and took a break. I likes this trip because it was my first road trip in the Philiphines.

The Great Wall Of China, February 14, 2015

This is a summary of our trip to the Great Wall of China.

The time for our tour bus to arrive was really early in the morning it was good that we woke up earlier than that so we didn't have to rush when getting ourselves ready.
We ate breakfast and we waited a little bit longer for our tour bus, I was really tired.
We got on the tour bus and I took a nap because the bus trip was more than an hour how long. When I woke up we were already there at the Mutianyu Great Wall.
Our tour guide said that there are two ways to go one of the ways are walking up and taking the slide down, the other way is by cable car up to tower 12. We took the cable car way up.
The great wall was made to be a border to protect the Chinese Empire from raids. They built it not straight but up and down the mountains and slopes, making it hard for us to walk without needing to breath after few minutes of walking on many stairs, to me it seemed almost like a dragon with its zig zag pattern. We were able to get some really good photos of the view. I was  able to make it to post 22 but my mom got half way up before we had to walk back to eat lunch and get on the bus.
I recommend before you go there to train by jogging long distances so you don't have to catch your breath every dozen of stars. I also recomend having someone with you to encourage you on the long walk. I think the Great Wall is a great place to visit with friends or family but hard to walk on with its steep stairs.

Disneyland and California Adventure Trip September 2014

When we were at Disneyland we went on lots of rides , took pictures with some of the Disney characters and had a lot of fun.
First we decided to go to the ride Matterhorn Mountain it was fast, but even though it was a water ride we didn't get wet.
We went to Its a Small World ride after. Then we went to Star Tours after star tours we went to Space Mountain, it was fast but not scary.
We ate lunch and then we went to Splash Mountain where we got a little bit wet. Then we went to Toon Town to take pictures with the characters(we didn't get to take a picture with Mickey because of the hour wait he had). The last thing we went on for the day was the train back to the main area to watch the parade.
The next day we went to the Bug Life first. Then the California Sceamin rollercoaster my favorite ride for the day. Then we watched the Aladin Show. After that the Muppet 3d Test Lab to the Disney Junior Live Show.
Then we went to cars land went down Grizzly River where I got wet the most. We watched the Disney Pixar Parade after that we went to the Twighlight Zone Tower Of Terror I got scared most on this ride.
Then we saw Turtle Talk and World Of Colors. There was a lot of people at the Disney Parade at 8:00pm they were all lined up if we haven't lined up early we would've not gotten a spot. The amount of people at World of color was worse, we could barley find a spot since we couldn't go in early because we had to wait for my moms friend. The food there at Disney land was great and it stuffs you. That was everything we did at Disneyland and California Adventure.
